FAQ

  • This project is led by two small business owners and in order to get things up and running, we found a non-profit fiscal sponsor, Rise United Network,Inc.to manage the donations and administration of funds.

  • Our fiscal sponsor is a 501(c)4, which means that donations are not tax deductible. However, this non-profit structure allows Pie Day for LA the flexibility to award funds to small businesses (versus only charitable organizations as required by a non-profit 501(c)3 status).

  • With the exception of a small administrative fee that will be paid to our fiscal sponsor to cover the costs of managing the account, all of the money raised during the campaign will go to LA bakeries in need.

  • Awardees will be determined after National Pi Day. We will share the award criteria and more in the coming days.

  • The Pie Day for LA founders and team are all volunteers and will NOT be paid out of funds raised from private donations or Participating Pie Makers’ contributions during the campaign.
